Graham County Travel and Tourism is your source of travel information for the areas of Robbinsville North Carolina, Stecoah, Lake Santeetlah, Fontana Lake, Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, Joyce Kilmer, Cherohala Skyway, Nantahala National Forest, Snowbird Backcountry, Slickrock Creek, and the Cheoah River.

Graham County is located in the far reaches of Western North Carolina in the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains of the southern Appalachians.

This region is home to the some of the highest and most remote mountains east of the Mississippi with elevations ranging from 1177 to 5560 feet. Graham County is nestled among hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness full of stunning mountain landscapes and many breathtaking views.

Graham County takes pride in it's rich heritage, local crafting, mountain music and dancing. CLICK HERE for information on our local heritage. Included in our heritage is the original people of the area, the Cherokee Nation which has an even older history.

With great natural wonders around every turn it is easy to see why people would visit this beautiful place. In an attempt to help you visit as many of these wonders as you can we have created an Area Activities page we hope will help plan you next trip.

Along with the natural sites that these mountain present, Graham County also hosts Events that are spectaular in their own way. There are a verity of events from heritage festivals and demonstration to car shows and annual parades.

Fading Voices Festival
Held since 1986 on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the Cherokee people of the Snowbird community invite members of the public to join them in an "Annual Demonstration Day" that includes a mound-building ceremony, arts and craft, performances of music and storytelling, and Cherokee food.

Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb
---Come "Catch the thrill of hill climb racing!" Free Event Open to the public. ---Jun 22 and 24 and again on August 4th and 5th: On Main Street Robbinsville. See the cars, meet the drivers. ---The hill climb will take place at Maple Springs Road (near Joyce Kilmer Loop).
